Things to Know
Himachal Pradesh is a stunning destination, but the mountainous terrain and varied weather require some preparation. Here are the essential things to know for your tour:
- Road Conditions: Mountain roads are often narrow, winding, and steep.
- Layered Clothing is Key: Temperatures can fluctuate rapidly, even within a single day.
- Footwear: Sturdy, comfortable hiking boots with good grip are a must, especially if you plan to trek. Carry an extra pair of comfortable shoes for relaxing.
- Sun Protection: High SPF sunscreen, lip balm, and polarized sunglasses (the mountain sun is intense, especially with snow).
- Medication: A basic first-aid kit including pain relievers, cold/fever meds, and medication for altitude sickness (consult your doctor).
- Hydration: A reusable water bottle.
- Electronics: Power bank, chargers, and possibly a universal adapter.
- Do not stand near the edge of cliffs or on riverbanks/boulders. River currents are deceptively strong.
